brunch from r.h. rooftop

My mom and I made reservations for R.H. rooftop on a whim when we saw the option online during a shopping trip. As we pulled up to the magnificent black tower, with nice cars out front and an artificial waterfall, one thing became patently obvious:

I was not dressed appropriately.

It was my fault, honestly. I should have known to wear more than a t-shirt and a flannel. But it kind of felt like the building was making fun of me for it. Why? Well, every single inch of the walls of the beautiful stairwell leading up to the rooftop dining room was covered in mirrors. Every step, I saw my scruffy self and thought, “darn. bummer.”

The atmosphere, if you can't tell, was very nice (and very expensive). And the food was great. Really great. I went with the French egg scramble with a side of wild mushrooms.

Eggs

These eggs were very good. They were incredibly fluffy and moist (in the case of a French scramble, that's a great thing). I could easily dip the toast in them. They also went nicely with the butter and avocado.

Toast

This was a solid sourdough. Nothing incredible, but it was good enough to pair nicely with the eggs.

Wild Mushrooms

These were some good mushrooms. They were sauteed and softened pretty well, but the seasonings were a game changer. Sweet, salty, and honestly a little sour (in a good way). I was so glad I ordered this side.

Egg: 10/10

Toast: 7/10

Avocado: 8/10

Butter: 8/10

Mushrooms: 9/10

Overall: 8.7/10
