lutece

DC

Georgetown’s “Lutece” is a high-end French restaurant situated on the bustling Wisconsin Avenue. The restaurant has a calm, refined, and homely environment; it’s a great place for a chatty dinner with friends. The food was great, as well. Our host was notably passionate about the cuisine and wine options, which made for an easier dining experience.

Appetizers:

Sourdough Foccacia & Cultured Butter

This was quality bread. It was slightly crisper than expected, which I don’t really appreciate in a foccacia; however, that fact was made up for by the fantastic seasonings that had been brushed on. The butter was really quite good. This bread paired well with the prosciutto.

8/10

Prosciutto

This was solid Prosciutto. Very simple; quality meat, sliced at the perfect thickness.

7/10

Dry Aged Steak Tartare

Fantastic tartare. The sourdough that accompanied it was really tasty (much like the foccacia). The meat itself was well-seasoned, and the texture was neither overly spongy nor rough. The chili seasoning was a nice touch.

8.5/10

Main Course:

Olive Oil Poached Cod

I was really pleased with my main course. The sauce which the cod and mussels sat atop was absolutely phenomenal. It was creamy and almost sweet. The mussels were actually the best part— they were adequately doused in sauce, and clearly quite fresh. The fish itself was very well-prepared and flavorful. It was slightly dry at points, but overall, the texture was good.

Dessert:

Birthday Cake

We lied and said it was Berger’s birthday. It wasn’t, but the cake was good. Thanks for taking one for the team, C.B.
