update + indian late night grub

DC

Hello everyone. I missed you all very much. I hope you missed me too. In fact, I know you did. Life is like that.

I was off the game for a while. No doubt about it. Moving into Georgetown and trying to savor every minute of my summer meant that I didn't have the intellectual capacity to keep up the blog (this is mostly a lie. I just got lazy.)

Anyways, school's been great. Life's been great. A highlight of my past month: my lovely girlfriend and I spent a weekend running and hiking many miles, and camped aside a beautiful pond. It was cool. I felt a sliver of Ginsberg's “starry connection to the heavenly dynamo”.

I have met some incredible people at Georgetown. They've made my transition here genuinely smooth, and the time I've spent with them has been meaningful. A few nights ago, we went for some late-night Indian food at a place called Masala Street.

Chicken Tikka Masala

This was pretty average chicken Tikka Masala— but that means that, compared to all other food, it was absolutely fantastic. I'd say there was definitely far too much oil and maybe not enough spices (shocking, I know). But other than that, I very much enjoyed this chicken and will definitely be coming back for more.

Chicken: 7/10

Sauce: 8/10

Overall: 7.5/10

Naan

I'm not going to lie, this naan wasn't memorable. It wasn't seasoned at all, and the texture wasn't all there. However, the size was great, and it absorbed the chicken sauces very well. Once again, ranked against other Indian food, it was pretty average, but ranked against all other food, it was still incredible.

Taste: 7/10

Text: 7/10

Size: 8/10

Absorption: 8/10

Overall: 7.5/10

I'd definitely recommend this spot if you're in Georgetown and looking for late-night grub.
