sesame tuna nachos from the boathouse

Some foods bring you home. Boarding school is a second home for me, so the foods which I eat regularly at school bring me home-ish. Sesame tuna nachos from the Boathouse are a fan favorite of students here, and there’s a reason why. When I arrived at Hotchkiss after winter break, too late to swing by the dining hall and too hungry to skip a meal, I ordered the nachos. As always, worth it.

These are tremendous. They’re composed of a layer of wonton chips, doused in eel sauce and spicy mayo, topped with seared sesame tuna and veggies. The way this dish combines those ingredients to form an exciting meal is brilliant. The sauces are great, the chips are excellent, and the veggies are well-chosen. The dish is sweet and spicy. My one criticism is that the restaurant is very inconsistent with the ratios of sauces- sometimes there’s a ton of mayo, or sometimes a ton of eel sauce.
