post-track meet bagel and an apple turnover

Running and food are linked in holy duality. Today, the team and I had the privilege of running at the state-of-the-art New Balance Indoor Track in Boston. This was an incredible experience; fast races, high energy, good times. While I didn't get a personal best, I ran a 9:32 3k, which is solid for a season opener. As happens after any track meet at which I don't PR, I have regrets about my decisions during the race- but I don't regret the time I spent in Boston, the people I spent it with, or, importantly, the food I ate to fuel post-race. My family brought an everything cream cheese bagel and an apple turnover which I scarfed down, starving.

The nice thing about being young and loving food is that, because of my relatively short time spent eating food compared to a 40-year-old, I encounter new favorites very frequently. This was the best apple turnover I've ever had. The perfect fluff, the perfect crunch, the perfect apple portions- it had it all. The frosting distribution was a little off, but that's just nitpicking.

Fluff: 10/10

Crunch: 10/10

Filling: 9/10

Frosting: 7/10

Overall: 9/10

The bagel was also fantastic. To start with the less impressive side, the seasoning was lacking. But the bagel itself? Oooh boy. It wasn't quite crunchy enough, but it sure was fluffy, and the dough tasted sweet in a good way. It was nicely sized, and paired well with a simple cream cheese.

Seasoning: 6/10

Bagel taste: 10/10

Bagel crunch: 6.5/10

Bagel fluff: 10/10

Cream cheese: 8/10

Overall: 8/10
